What is the best Yamaha keyboard for a beginner?

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I want to teach myself how to play the piano so I want to invest in a decent Yamaha keyboard. Any ideas? I will mostly be doing cover songs though. I’m looking into the YPT-400 right now.

The YPT-400 is a really good value, the product provides more features and better sound than a typical beginner instrument, but still at a beginner price..
The built in speakers provide good sound and the keys are velocity/touch sensitive.
USB port for MIDI functions.
It has the marvelous Yamaha sampled piano sound, very good drums, organ, and bass.
Cannot find info about AC adaptor, although the (lesser) models surrounding it are supplied with one.
Same product as the PSR-E403 – sold in musical instrument stores (YPT models sold in consumer electronic stores such as Best Buy).
